I'm excited about getting Sprouts in Smyrna... But for those familiar with this area: how are you supposed to leave to go West (down EW Connector towards Austell?)

There's that one traffic light in the Racetrack parking lot, but it doesn't let many cars through, and, well, it's in a parking lot that doesn't accommodate a heavy flow of traffic. This kind of seems like a logistical nightmare to me for folks trying to get out of that shopping center. Anyone know about new plans for lights or better traffic flow?

If netdragon was still around he'd be all over this thread like white on... well, let's say organic rice.

All I can think of (other than asking folks to ride bikes there), is that the timing of the Racetrac traffic light will be lengthened to allow for more westbound left-turners.

That light is your only way unless there is one on S Cobb.... and if there is you still have to make the left to get on S Cobb NB and then turn west on the EW Connector.

If there is no light on S Cobb that will be even harder.

I'm amazed how poorly this is being handled. The light to get out of Publix is terrible too.

Thanks all. I figured this was the case. This intersection has always seemed poorly designed to me in regards to the shopping centers. We'll see how it goes, I guess.

Getting out of Jim and Nick's is no picnic either so I stopped going. Hope they figure this out before we have wrecks....ever notice how very little preplanning is done in many instances? Gives them reaon to spend more splost money.

What did happen to netdragon.?? He did have good information on this area.

Well from Jim and Nicks, you would exit at the traffic light on S Cobb which is what many will have to do for the shopping center.

Oh, I noticed it. Our neighborhood has over 400 homes, with one way in and out. Until recently, we shared that same entrance/exit with a large apartment complex. It was also a frequent bus route. So that's upwards of 1000 people in and out every day onto a very busy road. We begged for a traffic light, but were told there was not enough traffic through our road for one.

Then, like a year later, a new traffic light sprung up at the entrance to a concrete plant down the road where maybe one truck exited every now and then. And it was on a 30-second timing cycle, stopping the major road every 30 seconds for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I got stuck at it literally every time I drove that way. Surely there was no crony money going on there. Surprisingly enough, the week after I wrote the city about the timing of that stupid light, the timing changed and I have never gotten stuck at it since.

Yeah, they don't necessarily use logic with things like this.

Huh? There is no light for Jim and Nicks. Jim and Nicks is on the opposite side of East/West from the shopping center.

You're right. I was thinking there was one there (I rarely drive on that side.)

It will be an issue. They put the new traffic light in the wrong spot it should be between Racetrack and the new shopping center and they could open it across the street and remove the other light.
