While I love the city, I wouldn't go out of my way to vacation here if I had other options in the country.

I'm glad other people do.

I would take a weekend trip if say I lived in Nashville, Charlotte, or any of those mid-size cities, but if I still lived in L.A., Atlanta would not be on my leisure list.

Probably similar to LA not being on the leisure lists of many in Atlanta. I know there are some people that go there for vacation (I've vacationed there once) but it's not a huge destination for vacationing Atlantans.

Some of y'all seem to be equating a visit with a vacation, and as a result, don't understand why someone would come here, or any number of other places that aren't "destinations." A lot of people like to visit as many places as they can, and some, myself included, have a strong desire (or in my case, an active and almost completed goal) to visit all 50 states. This is part of the reason people come here. The closer I get to reaching my goal, the more people I meet who have the exact same goal. Nobody is coming to Atlanta expecting it to be like NYC, SF, Chicago, Vegas, or any of the beach destinations.

Good point.A visit is usually short.Atlanta is accessible enough that a "visit" would be easy.If I livedi L.A. Atlanta would not be somewhere Id "visit" but if i were in Charlotte for a month then Atlanta would be somewhere Id go for a weekend.Or if I live in LA a "visit" to San Francisco for a weekend would be more likely also.

And that's fine, but Los Angeles gets far more overseas visitors and leisure tourists than Atlanta ever will. No one can argue that so you can be petty all you want, but stats are there. Far better city, far better food, far more things to do, better weather, and far more interesting of a city.

3.3 million for Los Angeles....barely about 660k for Atlanta. 3rd highest city just after NYC and Miami.

Thank you, but people take everything on the Atlanta forums so seriously. It was an honest opinion of mines that wasn't even bad. Los Angeles has world wide appeal so people from across the country want to go see Los Angeles. Atlanta does not have that same appeal.

And we still got more visitors

Poor child always crying when someone brings up LA. Stop being so sensitive and stop hating. Now I told you about being so sensitive before now but you are still acting like you just watched a Tyler Perry movie while playing with several kittens ....
