I am still pretty confused about how high achievers get into advanced classes at Inman. It seems a bit of a secret or at least is not obvious from online material.
Another reason why online school scores are not an accurate reflection of the quality of a school.

About advanced classes--My first suggestion would be to call the school and arrange a time to have your questions answered by a counselor--what follows are my impressions of how some of it works--but it is your kid's education--clarify and confirm EVERYTHING with the school-- If your child has been designated as gifted by a school in Georgia I think they are automatically eligable for advanced classes (3 of 4 core classes, I think). I do not know if the school has some reciprocity with gifted status with other states. I think that there are different levels of advanced classes available in different subjects--I am guessing some of that has to do with the level the student is working at--and some of that has to do with what classes are available/the certification of the teacher. I am pretty sure you do not have to be in gifted to be in at least some advanced classes--I am guessing grades/test scores/teacher reccomendation/pushy parents all come into play--but I could be completely wrong---the only thing that I know that I am 100% right about--is that you should contact the school and follow up until you get all of your questions answered.
