We currently live in SW Florida and are looking to relocate in the next year or two somewhere north of here, but not too north. We found Fayetteville and was wondering if anybody recently relocated there and would like to share their opinion.
We were attracted to this area because of affordable housing and good schools. We have a 1 1/2 year old and another on the way in March and we most importantly want them to have quality education, as well as be able to play outside in a nice community. We noticed that in Florida we are prisoners to our own house most of the year because it's so hot and humid (also the schools in the immediate area suck!). We have a budget of $200K-$250K. We saw a subdivision called Rivers Edge and noticed some great deals on houses but then realized that although it's in Fayetteville, it's actually in Clayton County which hasn't been getting much good press. Can anyone recommend a good subdivision near a highly rated school? We appreciate any info. Thanks!! Last edited by Lookin'North; 01-19-2008 at 11:53 AM. |

I have lived in Fayetteville since 1986. It's a great location! Your assessment about Rivers Edge is correct. Stay out of Clayton. Public schools accreditation is under review for 2nd time in 5 years. I've got house in Peachtree City which has the best schools in the area. You've got a young family so my property is probably not what you want...but take a look at my listing...price is right. http://www.peachtreecitygeorgia.vflyer.com

If you like Fayetteville, just look at the part of Fayetteville in Fayette County.
Also, I recommend that you look in Coweta County (just to the west of Fayette County) and Henry County (which is east of Clayton County) Based on your criteria, you should definitely find what you are looking for in Coweta, Henry, or Fayette County. The southside of Metro Atlanta is lovely and less crowded (with good schools and great family neighborhoods). Good Luck. |

Their are some great subdivisions in Fayetteville:
Weatherly Walk is great especially for kids. Their are tons of kids to get along with in this neighborhood. It's located about 5-7 mins away from Fayette CO high, and a lot of great elementary schools. The houses are somewhat close to each other but you have your privacy. You'll end up with wonderful neighbors. Weatherly walk is located on Highway 54 near Mccury Park. You also could look at the neighborhood directly in between Office Depot and Barns n Noble. Don't know the name-I don't even think there is one. It's right across from the pavilion. Don't worry not a lot of traffic thru the neighborhood. It's nice and quiet. You have homes that you wouldn't even know were back there like on Fox Hunt drive, and Steeple. There are more. If you have questions about any specific subdivision I can let you know more about it. |

I actually live in the neighborhood behind the Office Depot and Barnes and Noble. It is very private and very quiet. Most homes have very spacious yards. Enough for kids to run around in.
