Great news. A friend from South Florida remarked that there were tons of overweight ppl in Atlanta. He was shocked. I guess, compared to South Beach, there isn't much of a comparison but this ranking is much higher than I would have thought with the proliferation of southern cooking, which isn't known for being all that easy on the figure.

When the Buckhead Atlanta idea kept coming up, I mentioned that it would be nice to have some activity-related areas within the complex instead of the typical - stores and places to eat. Atlanta really could use more places intown that are geared towards fun physical activity. It seems eating is deemed almost like a pasttime.

Anyway, good news.

Eating is a pasttime, like, everywhere and has been for a very long time.

I am fitter now than I was before I came. It has a lot to do with the beautiful parks, great weather, and a wide variety of cheap gym memberships. It could also have something to do with being surrounded from people from so many areas.

I used to drive around for 10 minutes looking for a parking spot, but an ex-boyfriend from Jersey consistently parked at the end of the lot and took the stairs instead of the escalator just to get in the free exercise. Being around him changed my behavior as well because it was healthier.

Just because a place has fat women doesn't mean the cute women aren't cute.

If you want to see them in abundance go to any nightclub with a dress code, Atlantic Station, Lenox Square on the weekend or church.

BTW that list is BS. The cities that should be in the top 3 either should have great weather or be extremely walkable...

My picks would be IMO...

1. NYC
2. Philly
3. San Fran

Same here! Walking/ jogging at Dresden Park, walking/ jogging around Stone Mtn., and sometimes walking up Stone Mtn. I'll be 44 this month, Geminis represent! Gotta be more health conscious now. This has been a great place to do so.

Yeah, there are a lot of health conscious people here. I work with a guy who qualified for the Chicago marathon in October and the Marine Corp marathon, sometime this year. I'd have to imagine that the Chicago marathon will be relatively easy after training here. Chicago is pretty darn flat! Of course, I told him as much.

LOL - too funny. The flat versus hilly is a real thing to your legs and heart rate for that matter, and there is a definite contrast between here and Chicago.
