The city is actively moving forward with streetcar / LRT expansion. Expansions are also in the works for other areas. I bet we will see funding in place for major transit expansions in metro ATL before the end of 2016.

Sorta. It won't be anything close to MARTA in scale. That is pretty much undoable now in this country.

No, we have transit. 48 miles of HRT system. Seattle has a good bus system, a LRT and streetcar line.

48 miles that don't serve the majority of our population.

It serves the majority of the population that passed the referendum to fund it. It serves the top 4 employment centers. Unlike Seattle, Atlanta has no natural boundaries.

They will never catch up. It would cost a staggering amount of money to build something like a MARTA system today.

Come on dude...comparing a European and any American city outside of NYC when it comes to transit is apples and bowling balls and you know it. You're obviously in one of your "Atlanta can't do anything right" phases, which should pass in a day or two.

And I think the money and political will to fix the problem is there also. We'll fix the problem, just going to be expensive and take some time.
