I know... Folks say that late night shift workers and bar tenders need a place to shop after hours. But are there really that many folks who will do that?

Yes. I'm confused why you are confused. Pretty simple; read and comprehend. Are you not an exec?

What exactly is confusing? Midtown is getting a second Whole Foods, this time in an urban format and flagship, on 14th Street, on the North Side of Midtown. A lot of cities have multiple Whole Foods, close together. Heck, Chicago has 4 fairly close together just outside the Loop.

Midtown is filling out and maturing. Stuff like this is going to happen.

Kwanza Hall, Midtown's council representative, retweeted a link to this article about Whole Foods announcing the brand name for their new line of lower-priced stores, "365 by Whole Foods Market." It's tea leaf-reading but if you'd like to take that as a hint that that may be what's lined up for the new midtown location, I won't stop you.

It would be a pretty smart place to put a flagship for this new brand.

Whole Foods Market reveals name of new, lower-priced chain of stores - Atlanta Business Chronicle

I would imagine that the flagship would be more about being higher end than value. I think that's the whole purpose of a flagship.

Now, currently, the retail cutout between View Point and Skyhouse South on 6th is currently "under construction". It's been long rumored that this spot was going to be a grocer. If I remember correctly, someone posted either here or on that other site that there was a rendering on the window of the old Sprint store that looked very much like a Whole Foods, roughly 12 blocks away from the proposed Whole Foods flagship on 14th and Spring.

This 365 concept seems like it would be more of a direct competition with the likes of Publix and Kroger, than their standard store model, and since it's been rumored that Publix could possibly land another store on the 6th and Peachtree Corner, maybe they are considering opening a 365 on the lower end of Midtown? With the amount of residential construction going on in Midtown right now, it wouldn't be too hard to believe.

Let the speculations begin!

Good spot for a Walmart Neighborhood Market.

Is the Walmart in Tech Square technically a Neighborhood Market? Or do they have a completely different campus type line up as well?

Clubs and bars let out at 3am. They will want to do some grocery shopping before going back home or they will go to pick up condoms if they got lucky that night. Plenty of people shop late at night at Kroger. There are people that are hungry at 4am.

Get out more late night

Flagships are more about branding than the price of the merchandise that's solid within.

For those interested and looking for a unique building in the skyline this welcome addition called Modera Midtown broke ground yesterday. Should look great along side the connector.

Source Curbed Atlanta:

"According to the architects, the building will top out at 29 floors, with 488,000 square feet devoted to the residences and 12,000 square feet for commercial space. The apartments will follow the trend of others rising in the area, with boutique amenities such as a rooftop terrace, yoga studio and two pools. (It's also planned to have a running track)"
