Alpharetta
Looking to relocate to Georgia. One of the areas we like is Alpharetta. Any comments about this town would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I think it is a great location, traffic is not as bad as other areas. It reminds me of NJ.
Good Choice!

Hello Calcbunny. Funny you should mention NJ. That's where I'm from. I will miss it here but I can stand the cold weather anymore although, I hear it snowed there a few days ago.
How's the Pizza and Bagels there? Are there dinners too?

Depends on where in Alpharetta you're looking. In my experience, housing in the south end (30022) & unincorporated areas are good, but not great. We were there for three years & things didn't look like they were improving so we moved to NW Cherokee Co. The areas up in 30004 and 30005 are better, but a bit more pricey.
Have you looked at ajchomefinder.com or publicschoolreview.com? Those may help your decision. Welcome to Georgia.

There are no more unincorporated areas in north Fulton county.
Besides, Alpharetta you have Johns Creek, Milton, Roswell, and Sandy Springs.
But if your looking at R/E on the net- also look at- Cumming, Suwanee, Canton. Some properties have these cities as mailing addresses although they are in Fulton county.
Alpharetta, for most partical purposes is a bedroom community. A suburb of Atlanta. There is one major commerce area- Windward. And there's everything else- fast food, restuarants, big boxes, shops, stores, businesses galore.
Good luck on your hunt-

Decent pizza and bagels can be found, but they're more the exception than the rule. I've yet to find a diner like the ones in NJ down here, though there's plenty of places to eat- you'll just have to adjust.

Check out the PeachTree Diner. Peachtree Dinner - Seafood Steak Restaurants - Roswell, GA
Just like the ones on Long Island.

Alpharetta is a beautiful place, and it really reminds me a lot of New Jersey. It took us a little while, but we finally found good pizza, bagels, and chinese food. Now, finding good lox has been a bit more of a problem!

I'm curious, what do you think is good pizza in Alpharetta? And please, don't say Mellow Mushroom or Johnny's.
