Ok, I'll check this out. Thanks. I always come in from the East side and the Freedom Parkway going south side.

Finally, you will pass the old Bass High School and enter Little Five Points west of Moreland Avenue. (You can also reverse this and enter through Little Five Points via Euclid Avenue going west from Moreland Avenue.

Inman Park is also home to a lot of folks favorite Festival around here, the last weekend in April.

It's a lot of fun, and the wacky parade is infamous.

[I made that statement at least a year ago, along with the statements about how many areas ITP don't even bother to rake their grass (or trim their bushes). I guess people think ITP means let it all hang out since you're close in. So yes, I could see the overpriced thing.]

Some of the in-town neighborhoods, like VA Highlands (especially the areas right off from the bar corridor) can be a little hit-or-miss with landscaping. I understand not going overboard, because people don't have so much time these days to tend to lawns, but last time I was down there I was a little taken aback at grass overtaking sidewalks in places. Maybe people in that part of town are just more social and spend their evenings at events, or travel for their jobs, but the number of expensive homes paired with unkempt lawns seemed odd to me.

So it's not just me that has noticed?

Yes, 700k or 800k for 2000 square feet and not a lawn mower or bush trimmer in sight. Just hire somebody to do it, I would think. What's 50 dollars every couple of weeks when you're dropping 4000 a month on mortgage.

Or they think it is the city's job to maintain the sidewalk vegetation.

I think its just a style here to leave things more natural and less manicured. When I moved here it reminded me of Russia. They have that same look.

One must remember that many of those unkempt front lawns are rentals. Many houses in great areas like va-hi, candler park, and Cabbagetown are almost teardowns but the neighborhoods are so desirable that landlords don't feel any pressure to make improvements because there will always be someone who wants to live there. Slapdash lawnscaping is just an extension of that.

I see. Ok, I guess that explains it. I didn't realize there were so many rental homes in these areas. Too bad the neighborhoods don't have an HOA to make the landlords take care of the yards. Guess that would be one example of when an HOA would come in handy.
