"Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, long rumored to have his sights on higher political office, said he has “another election” in him before retiring from public life.

“I think I have another election in me, because I love public service,” Reed told WABE radio hosts Denis O’Hayer and Rose Scott on Tuesday.

Reed wouldn’t reveal just which office he’s eyeing, though he’s widely believed to desire a gubernatorial run, if not U.S. Senate. Reed has said he plans to return to the private sector after leaving Atlanta City Hall in 2018, but on Tuesday left open the possibility of another campaign..."

Wonder what job he is considering. I would love to see him run for Fulton Co chairman.

That would be good, but I hope he has higher office in mind. Our entire state could benefit by his gubernatorial or senatorial leadership.

Is he going to have a temper tantrum every time a journalist questions him and block them from the official gubernatorial Twitter account?

Funny! He behaved very well during the WABE interview.

Just putting it out there, but anyone think there's a remote chance he's interested in being Clinton's Vice President?
Atlanta presence expected for Clinton Global Initiative
Georgia on Hillary Clinton

His mayoral term runs through 2018 and he has implied that he will take a break from office after this term is done so doubt he is planning it. But I am sure the offer would be hard to turn down.

Yeah that's not the kind of an offer you turn down regardless of your prior plans.

Do you seriously think Georgia is ready to elect a moderate to liberal black democrat for either of these positions? My take is this is at least 10 years away. I too think he would be good but don't see it as realistic at this time but would love to be wrong.

If she asked there is no way he would say "no".
If he had just a little bit of a warmer personality, I think he could help her win. I think that with current demographics, Democrats can win by mostly getting their base out. Reed could help with that. The Republicans have to find a way to expand their base (heck, if the republicans could find a "Reed' they would have a chance next time out).
