Oh, I didn't realize they were initially downtown. Perhaps the better message I'm trying to convey is whenever a significant amount of people have their work location moved a significant distance, it will cause hardships for many.

Thus, IMO we should not blindly celebrate the relocation downtown... there are downsides to it b/c many people planned living arrangements around the now former location.

Did Coke actually move jobs from downtown to Cobb or did they just grew new jobs?

At times in the past they have moved people out to Wildwood.

Thanks, bu2.

Wonder if they will be building new space at the North Avenue campus, or just squeezing these folks in?

They're squeezing. They also laid off a lot of people.

It is never that simple, especially with corporate jobs. Even this move from "Cobb to Downtown" really comes in the context of the reality that Coke just laid off 1,800 folks in January. That doesn't mean that suddenly tomorrow Coke needs 1,800 less full-time-employees worth of work done? No. That work is just getting shifted around over time. And vice-versa, when Coke first opened it's office in Cobb do you really think 100% of employees at that office were new hires?

But what about those record high rent prices people were talking about in that recent thread?

And those over-inflated SFH prices in that other thread?

Those issues might put a damper on folks having "more living options"

There's already a shuttle between North Ave. MARTA and the Coke headquarters. I see that bus quite frequently when I'm walking to and from class at GT.

The south side has more affordable living options than the north side, so this move gives more affordable options to those 500 employees.
