Gambling IS banned in Georgia. The legislature would have to unban it to allow this.

Casino in Atlanta is a bad idea. We are a city of commerce, not just a tourist destination. Look at the cities that have casinos, none of them are doing that well. I hear Cobb County takes all of Atlanta's had me downs.

Pittsburgh has casino within walking distance of its Downtown and is doing well. Tourists come here to see things like the College Football Hall of Fame, for big-time college bowl games, NASCAR, big concerts, DragonCon,, etc

Anyways I don't really care either way but just think if this is done correctly taxes could be levied and funds raised for infrastructure improvements.

Casinos rarely fulfil their promises of tax revenue.

None of the cities with casinos are doing that well?

London, Manchester, Stockholm, Glasgow, Melbourne, Sydney, Vancouver, Oslo, Helsinki, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona, Moscow, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Seoul, Auckland, Montreal, Vienna, Prague, Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam, Budapest, Santiago. They all have casinos.

If you only mean in the States.....

Miami, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Kansas City, Tampa, Milwaukee, Tucson, Scottsdale, New Orleans, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Seattle

Cities can have casinos without trying to let gambling define their identity.

That's a lot of assumptions there.

We can encourage economic development with less fallout.

One of the economic negatives is on restaurants. The casinos try to have good, inexpensive food so people never leave the place. They tend to leave a wasteland around them. In New Orleans, Bourbon St. was too strong to get damaged by the casino. But it does happen in other places. People don't leave the casino.

Where?

I'm guessing you will mention areas out in the sticks with nothing going on. Vegas fit that description at one point in time. Atlanta has alternatives.
