The MMPT, for starters, but seeing as that's essentially DOA....

Eh, I'll take the casino. Better than an empty, blighted Gulch, at least.

Watch it turns into a ghetto, ratchet dump like some of the casinos in Atlantic City. That's why I'm opposed to it in Atlanta. Get bad management and it's over and Atlanta has plenty of bad management. I could easily see it go the way of Underground. Once revered now just nothing but low income shops and a place where some tourists go and become extremely disappointed.

Casinos have the potential to either boom an area or destroy an area from the inside out. For some reason, since this is Atlanta, I'm thinking the latter.

I didn't think about this lol. Do you consider the casino in New Orleans ghetto?

Regarding the vote, will it be each region of GA voting for their region to legalize gambling or will it be one vote for the entire state?

Sustainable, long term development that is invested in the neighborhood. Downtown has a history of these mega-projects not working out for the area; eg: Dome, UA, Turner Field, etc.

I want to be cautious but I think it sounds like a good idea because the casino seems to fit perfectly in the Gulch. It won't disrupt adjacent neighborhoods and districts because they already have so much going on. Honestly, I think it compliments much of the area very well. I think the comparisons to small cities with casinos isn't valid. All those cities do is gaming, that's not going to be the case here.

I think my main concern is, where else will they put a casino. The gulch makes sense, but if they start putting them up in places like turner field, I'm gonna have a problem with it.

I understand it as the legislature is thinking about voting to add a question to the 2016 ballot (which could be vetoed), then each region can decide.

Wonder what it would cost for me and some of my buddies to rent a luxury coach and go down there? As far as I'm concerned the wives can come along, too.

The downtown casino would be MARTA convenient, no need to rent a limo.

Having a casino of the scale that is being discussed near Six Flags might give that area a much needed shot in the arm (no pun intended), while Cumberland already has the Energy Centre and soon to be new stadium development, as entertainment venues for the area. Still think the first amazing if not astounding or astonishing and killer casino would be best located downtown though, imho, especially if the transit component is part of the shuffle and deal.
