Hi everyone,

I've tried searching for threads on here, but it seems most in this subject are at least 3-5 years old, and I know how areas can change in a short period.

Our home in FL is set to close next month, and we will be visiting soon to check things out and are trying to narrow down cities. Here's what we're looking for:

Budget: 250-275k
Great schools/preschools - I have 2 daughters, ages 2 and 5
Family-friendly amenities nearby
Pretty, well-manicured area with lots of trees
Friendly people. Coming from South Florida, this is a big deal.
Very safe

Husband is a realtor and I work from home so we are open to anywhere.

I think I've narrowed it down to either Roswell or Alpharetta. Any thoughts on this? Can anyone me what they perceive as the air/feel of these two cities?

Are there any other cities we might be missing that fit our criteria?

My good friend moved from South FL to GA and adores it. We're hoping to follow in her footsteps

Thank you very much in advance

Both cities are very nice, Roswell is a "little" more Hip'er (with downtown dinning), then Alpharetta.

Both have great schools,

If you are looking for a 4BR in your price range, you might also look in Southern Forsyth County. More Bedroom'ish then Roswell/Alpharetta.

I'd be slightly concerned with those areas given your preferences/prerequisites and price range. You might want to also consider West Cobb (Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth).

hautemomma, which preferences specifically don't match up with those areas? I would love to hear your views.

I know we're on the lower end of the price scale for these cities, but I've been checking trulia and actually found some pretty cute homes in our range.

Yes, that's my main point - the scarcity of choices in that range; also, not sure of your tolerance in terms of properties that have not been updated or that may have other issues.

You will have plenty options in that range...especially if you are willing to consider resales.

Like people have mentioned, there are lots of areas in Metro Atlanta that will meet your criteria.

So the question is...why have you specifically narrowed it down to Roswell and Alpharetta?

Give us some more details about what you want/need/desire...
