Moving from Northern VA to Atlanta
Hello, I am currently planning to relocate to Atlanta from Northern VA, I have recently purchased a franchise and would like some advice on good, safe areas to live, in or outside of Atlanta. I am single, looking to rent for 1 year and then buy a house. I like to go dancing, museums, movies, shopping, and restaurants just to name a few. Any guidance will be very much appreciated.
Thanx

Is the franchise something that needs a location too? If so, I'd focus on where the franchise would do well, and then work to live nearby.

I pretty much have my pick of where to set up the franchise, I would like to avoid traffic if at all possible. And safety is important to me just like it is to everyone else. I am considering areas outside of Atlanta such as Lville, Buford, Alpharetta, however I have never been to Atlanta and are not at all familiar with these areas.

Well, if you go outside the perimeter (I-285 that runs around the city), the nightlife will be more limited, but you'll also often get more house for the money. If you're not going to be traveling into downtown or midtown for work, you've pretty much got your pick of locations. Any idea what you'll be looking for in a house (condo or detached, approximate size) and what you'll be looking to spend?

Consider Peachtree City in Fayette county about 30 minutes south of the airport. But not as congested as the northern suburbs. But..also, Fayette county and in particular Peachtree City has a very high per capita income, well educated consumers...etc.

I'd first pick where you are going to put your franchise based on your market research and go from there.

Let us Help you meet new people!
I know moving to a new area and especially one so large can be a bit un-nerving! I happen to work for a Singles Events and Activities group for Atlanta and surrounding areas.
We organize up to 30 hosted activities a month. Our activities consist of sporting events, picnics, bowling, movies, happy hours, wine tastings, hiking, and many many others. It is a great way for single professionals to meet other single professionals in a safe and fun environment.
We would love to talk to you and introduce ourselves to you. Check out our website.... Singles Events Unlimited, Inc.

Lived in NVA and now ATL
ATL area reminds me alot like N. VA...the sprawl, the hills, highways, housing, etc....especially Buckhead reminds me of Tysons Corner with all the shopping, etc. Housing is certainly less expensive and climate is great!! Good luck.
