Seems like a sensible idea.

On a typical workday, about 9,000 passengers from a dozen counties board an Xpress bus bound for metro Atlanta job centers. But the job centers themselves are shifting, and the Xpress bus system is moving with them.

The board of the Georgia Regional Transit Authority is expected on Wednesday to approve three new cross-suburb Xpress routes: buses originating in Cobb, Gwinnett and Forsyth counties will carry riders to the bustling office towers near Perimeter Mall, an area that continues to see explosive growth.

This was an interesting fact:

In the I-85 HOT lanes, only 2 percent of the vehicles during morning rush hour are transit vehicles. However, those vehicles carry more than a quarter of the people who travel through the lane.

Ideally, Commuter Rail would be picking up the spokes of the system where tracks existed, and commuter buses would be connecting nodes circling off the rail spokes.

Glad to see the bus service expanding, though, and glad to see it getting good use.

GRTA express buses will run from Kennesaw to Midtown beginning next year and from Kennesaw to Perimeter Mall.

Expansion of a state bus system will add service from Kennesaw to Atlanta. The route is expected to be in place by late 2016.
The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority has voted to expand its Xpress bus service to offer more routes during morning and evening commutes from counties surrounding Atlanta, including Cobb, reports Marietta Daily Journal.
New routes include those from a park-and-ride lot near Town Center to the Civic Center in Atlanta, and from the Town Center park-and-ride lot to the Perimeter Mall park-and-ride lot in Sandy Springs.
The new routes will be funded out of the state authority’s $24 million annual operating budget, according to GRTA spokesman Matt Markham.
The system is separate from a bus rapid transit plan being discussed by Cobb County officials.

And our government thinks people won't ride busses, yet these limited commuter busses are getting 9,000 passengers a day.

Give people an easy app that let's know know when the bus is coming. That is the #1 thing I hated about CCT was their lack of arrival app. It's no wonder they don't attract demand riders.
