Or is it strictly relegated to sports?

I never heard of one.

Maybe for conventions? I think that New Orleans, Atlanta, and Nashville are all in the same ballpark for chasing down trade shows, conferences, etc.

We don't even try to compete with Las Vegas or Orlando.

I hate when the Saints come to town and all the New Orleans fans act like this is their city.
No, it is strictly relegated to sports. Atlanta is a city about business and commerce. New Orleans does not have as robust economy as Atlanta.

Unless the feeling is mutual, there is no rivalry. And the feeling, as far as I can see, is not mutual. but then again, football does not even exist in my world, so maybe I see things differently than most.

I think there are really a top 4 and the rest. The really big conventions can only be handled by a few cities and tend to rotate around. They don't go to Orlando or Las Vegas every year.
