More jobs for the Metro....
Quote:
Tech-Long USA, a Chinese packaging technology firm and Coca-Cola Co. supplier, will invest $5 million in a Metro Atlanta expansion that will create 130 jobs.
Guangzhou, China-based Tech-Long is the largest supplier of packaging systems and technologies to the bottling and packaging industries in China. The company serves more than 40 multinationals including Nestle, The Coca-Cola Co., Pepsi-Cola and Danone.
Tech-Long’s 25,000 square foot facility, 3400 Rivergreen Ct. in Duluth, will be the company’s Center of Parts & Service Excellence for the Americas. It will be a manufacturing hub as the company expands its position into the liquid packaging markets in Canada, the United States, Caribbean, Mexico and South America.

I like this.

Packaging for drinks is a business that doesn't seem as fickle as tech.

Yet more.... From today's ABC:

Telecom giant Level 3 Communications is expanding in metro Atlanta while bucking the intown migration trend.

The Broomfield, Colo.-based Fortune 500 company (NYSE: LVLT) will add more than 100 jobs in Gwinnett over the next few years. Level 3 will also relocate about 350 jobs from downtown Atlanta to a nearly 40,000-square-foot building at Technology Park in Peachtree Corners. The site will be Level 3’s Southeast headquarters.

Amazing how little traction these stories get on this board.

But if Google was adding a data center or call center in midtown with 100 $7.50 an hour part-time jobs, this board would be singing its praises if it was within walking distance to a MARTA station.

Curious...

I thought I was imagining things. Companies don't move to or expand business where there aren't any transit options

Well, I hope you are relieved. I didn't know anyone would think a regional net gain in jobs is something to be sarcastic about. Curious...

Call center jobs should be the easiest job America should bring back from India.
