I think there are more UGA fans here. UGA is a bigger school, pumps out more alumni, I guess.
Or maybe I notice them more because, as a Florida alumna and like many of my SEC brethern, I find Georgia fans incredibly obnoxious.

Probably 80% UGAY, 20% Tech or even worse...
...I'm a Tech Alumn, my Dad's a UGAY alumn.....
...no one else in my family went to either school...they went to KSU, GSU, Mercer...they're all UGAY fans with the exception of my Mom.
Mainly, b/c UGA is more popular and their football team has done better, recently. If you're more into college BasketBall/Baseball then Tech, football is UGAY even though Tech's last NC was in 1990 and UGAy's in 1980....they're just more consistent and bigger.
The thing that hurts Tech the most is that we have more out-of-state students by far, and more students who take positions elsewhere in the Country....UGAY grads stick around.
But I didn't choose my school based on football, I chose on academics and am glad I did. We're much more respected!

Not sure of the %, but definitely more Dawgs fans than Jackets fans. UGA is a bigger school and, due to it's past reputation as a big time party school, many non-alums tend to gravitate towards it because it has a more desireable image. Also true that many Tech grads move out of state after graduating due to either being originally from out of state or seeking jobs in the high-tech sector.
Regarding gt6974a's assertion that Tech grads are more respected, well, not sure that was the question, but this reeks of the typical Techie inferiority complex. I don't know many people in the journalism, arts or communications that are going to be blown away by someone from GaTech, likewise, the same holds true for an engineer from UGA (do they even have that program?). In my line of work in finance, it is rare to see a Tech grad reach the same levels as their UGA counterparts b/c they usually do not possess the social skills or political savvy to graduate from middle management roles. The only exceptions are people who went elsewhere for undergrad and maybe went through Tech's executive MBA program. Additionally, anyone who's ever set foot in Athens knows exactly why kids would more readily go there...it's not always just about academics. I'm not really in the mood for a UGA/Tech debate because I think I went through enough of those about 10-15 years ago, but your post just seemed kind of trite with the usual Tech passive aggressive venom I hear from people who act like they were too smart to go to UGA, and the whole UGAy thing was kind of annoying.

In my community (Peachtree City ) I'd have to break it down as being 25% Georgia fans , 25% Tech Fans , and 35% Auburn Fans, with the other percentages being taken up by the likes of Ohio State, Michigan,Wisconsin and LSU.
At times durring the Michigan - Ohio State matchups I have thought I'd been abducted and transplanted to another state . Thier fans were wearing thier colors everywhere here , so much so that all of us who support Georgia teams here were vastly out numbered.

Right - like the Tech guys on the same UGA blogs are totally dignified in all of their responses. Dude - there are morons in every fan base, 90% of which never attended the school they support. So just because some knuckleheads (on a blog, no less) spout nonsense, it gives you free reign to say whatever you want to fans of their same team without reproach??? Awesome logic.

Sorry, Georgia fans are really bad. I'd take a techie over a Georgia fan any day.

If it doesn't field a women's ice hockey team, it isn't a real sports school.
