My son & I got 404's last year when we got new cell numbers/carrier.

That are aliased to our old numbers on Google Voice that we actually use. (678 A/C)

My mother cracks up at our family's cell phones: Mine is 404, my husband's is 770, the kids are 678. She was so confused for so long, until I just programmed the numbers in her phone and now she doesn't have to think about it. :-)

Years ago I had a co-worker who gloated over me when 770 was added. He was able to keep his 404 since he lived intown. We had the ITP versus OTP thing going on. He felt very urbane and sophisticated with 404, whereas I had the suburban shame of 770. The funny thing was that even though he lived in Atlanta and I lived in Johns Creek/Alpharetta, I had somewhat of a more city lifestyle in that I lived in a condo and he lived in a single family home where he worried about his grass like any good suburbanite does! And even though I lived in the burbs, I had season tickets to the opera, symphony, and ballet (when they were all still in the city).

I refuse to be defined by my area code or to be ashamed of being in the burbs, especially since the burbs have become so vibrant and so diverse!
