When people start parking at the mall and local businesses, getting their cars towed and being stranded after the game, you'll see visitor morale drop and it may effect attendance. Also, surrounding businesses will have to hire extra people to patrol their lots, making sure game day visitors do not park. That will hurt the local businesses as it will eat into their margins and they will have to raise prices or shut down. Cobb PD will not be doing parking enforcement on private properties. What happens when cars start parking in vacant lots or on the sidewalks?

I'm confused. If the developers are having parking issues, why not build a massive parking garage and just glam it up like they do in S. FL. Along the ends of the garage have vines and plants and have lighting and advertisements on the ends. It won't be such of an eyesore and can be built on small enough space?!?

Because like the bridge, they don't want to pay for it.

Because parking garages cost about $20,000 a space. Who is going to pay for it? It is basically like buying each Braves fan a new car.

On the plus side, this would be a great time to get into the dilapidated gravel parking lot business in Cumberland. Providing parking that way is quite affordable.

So the developer doesn't have enough money then, or didn't have all the financing figured out. I guess I just thought when you build a stadium of that magnitude you have the stadium financing figured out, and parking situation figured out. Esp if you state you will have no public trans coming in due to where your spectators come from.

A smart business would, but this is Liberty Media at work.

Basically it boils down to that area was once a vibrant neighborhood of mostly jews and AA. Then the freeways were build, homes and businesses were torn down in the name of urban renewal and replaced with a stadium, which at the time did not have a tenant, and parking lots. How many middle class families do you who would want to live next to parking lots, visited by people who leave litter and care nothing about the area? The Atlanta Braves caused the issues that plague those neighborhoods.
Glad to see someone that actually knows the history of this city, unlike the glorified tourists that just call it the "ghetto" and don't educate themselves.

I will be surprised if Tim Lee lets this bridge fail. Can't he use eminent domain to take the land he needs? Or couldn't they just downsize the bridge more just to connect to the road below and not the parking deck?

Eminent domain requires just compensation. You can take for the greater societal good (that being enriching Liberty Media) but you have to pay for it and these landowners can afford the good lawyers so you're going to pay a premium. 100 prime parking spaces alone of commercial zoned land would be 7 figures and you haven't even bought concrete yet. Good luck getting a judge to sign off on it when funding any of it is but a grand delusion by a corrupt bureaucrat and there are an army of opposing lawyers w/ puffed up appraisal numbers.

Eminent domain is best used when bullying poor/naive residents.
