This is insular thinking, and I will need to have a talk with them. The bridge is great for pedestrian flow during times when there is no game. It will also help the galleria convention center mall. I don't want to beat a dead horse but they just don't get it.

You totally missed his jab at Summerhill and got it all backwards. Just saying..

Get real. Taxes from one office building in Cumberland:

http://www.cobbassessor.org/cobbga/D...sIndex=1&idx=1

Total Estimate 970,627.29

Includes:
School General 490,373.05

They are also taxing some of the "personal property" in the building too.

Compared to that, how much in new taxes do you think the Braves development with many more buildings will bring in?

Not a whole lot if they wind up having to build nothing but parking spaces because no one budgeted for a certain bridge as well as any circulator buses.

Also, your link isn't going to work since it's session specific search.

It will be a net-loss for the county.

Sure they will get new developments, but less than if they had not built stadium. There are plenty of studies that have shown the stadiums are not the huge boon for the local economy they are portrayed as.

Gravel parking lots on $2M an acer land will not be as much benefit as having productive businesses and residents living there.

Cumberland is already behind it's peers on this cycle of development and the stadium hasn't even opened yet.

Crazy hate blinding you. The land was formerly considered undevelopable because there was a gas pipeline running through it. Only something of this scale could do it. To bring $1Billion in development there is astounding and there is just no way it will come close to your "net loss"

Furthermore the economic impact studies you mention are not applicable because there has NEVER been an MLB stadium move like this to a self developed ecosystem. This is unprecedented.

Not every single development is a good thing. There used to be quite the nice little pond there and the makings of a great park.

So... a 1-2 acre drainage pond is much better for that area than $1 billion in development bringing a plethora of new entertainment options to the NE side of the city. That must've been a nicer pond than I remember.
