I hate that Atlanta is known as "Mecca" for garbage music like hip hop and rap. That culture is ugly, materialist, and ignorant. It smears this great city and the people who built it.

Music from Atlanta is definitely not one-dimensional:

"Atlanta has a thriving music industry and is considered to be a capital of hip-hop including crunk, of R&B and its offshoot neo-soul, and of gospel music - in addition to a thriving indie-rock and live music scene. Classical, country, and blues are also well represented. From the 1920s through 1950s the city was a major center for country music." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Atlanta

Nor is hip hop. No genre of music is completely 100% one thing, nor is one particular genre of music "better" than another.

I agree but disagree, some hip hop is dope (Good) and is peaceful to the soul and ears. Sadly hip hop is not owned by it originators or pushed by its originators anymore. The Atlanta hip hop scene specializes in the practice of drug dealing, VIP partying, reducing women down to their body parts and making bad investments with their small and fast money. Thats just what is pushed to the black youth across the country. The stuff you hear in some of these guys music is definitely lived out or attempted by many people here in Atlanta. It just depends on ones point of view. Some people love it very few hate it, that culture becomes the norm. You just have to roll with the punches or adapt to somethings.

You should listen to ATLiens, Aquemini, or R.A.P. Music. Definitely not garbage, ugly, materialist, or ignorant.
