Two tractor-trailers plunged off I-285 onto Ga. 400, shutting down the busiest interchange in the state during the Friday afternoon lunch hour and sending three people to the hospital.
All northbound lanes of 400 and some eastbound lanes of 285 remained closed just after 1 p.m., and the Sandy Springs Police Department predicted the road closures would last through rush hour.
The wreck, which happened about 11:44 a.m., left a Publix truck upside down in the middle of the northbound lanes of Ga. 400. The truck was surrounded by about 20 emergency vehicles, lights flashing.

I was heading into my perimeter office when I got to this and was diverted onto 285E since all lanes were closed. I turned around and went home lol. It was horrific.

That is a nightmare and a half. Now, I might not have liked it too much to sit in traffic that long, but if I had any idea there was a gas truck involved, I would have had to abandon my vehicle and start walking back in the opposite direction.

Not sure where exactly it happened, but we all know how crazy it is to have to merge from 285 east on to 400 North, where it dumps you in the far left fast lane.

Did truck #1 clip truck #2 as truck #1 realized he needed to exit, causing truck #2 to spill over the bridge on to 400? Trying to imagine what happened.
