I couldn't find the general restaurant thread for Atlanta... so I'll post this here. The topic is Mexican food, so I guess it fits.

Anyway, I discovered a great new Mexican restaurant in Smyrna on Spring Road -- Taco Cantina. It's right in my 'hood, but I had passed it by for months without really thinking about checking it out. Something about the generic name and the location (a couple failed restaurants have occupied that spot) didn't give me high hopes.

I've eaten there twice in the past week and it's fantastic. They serve authentic Mexican street food - tacos, tortas and more Americanized fare like quesadillas. I highly recommend that residents and workers in the Cumberland-Galleria area give it a try. I think this will be a weekly standby for me. The tacos are delicious (and a bargain), but the Cubana Torta I had the other day really stands out. Now I don't need to head over to Muss & Turners and spend $13 when I'm in the mood for a slow-roasted pork sandwich.

I tried it but it was kinda bland to me. Still prefer Taco La Villa and The Border over them.

Everything I had was flavorful. To spice things up, I added some of the excellent salsas to my tacos and torta. The spicy salsa is amazing.

BTW, I'll have to check out Taco La Villa. However, they don't have a website to look at their menu... annoying... almost makes me not want to give them my business.

All you need to know for Taco La Villa is their lunch taco plate. 3 tacos, rice/beans, 5 bucks. Unbeatable deal.

Yep and their food definitely tastes better. Their barbacoa burrito is good too.

Unfortunately I no longer work over there. I wanted to try their other offerings but I didn't get the chance

Thanks, I'll be checking out this place some time this week. Nice to have these options instead of the same-old-same-old Chipotle and Moe's fare. Del Taco is a no-go for me.

Not sure if anyone has been to Del Taco lately, I haven't. Seems as though they have changed their taco salad shells the last time I went and was kinda disappointed to say the least.. I'm not sure, they could have gone back to the original, does anyone know?
