And? Ever heard of the Georgian Terrace? The Ellis? The Glenn?

Hardly mass media, and unique to Atlanta.

Next.
The topic is the Hard Rock Hotel, not those hotels. The comment was that the topic hotel is not unique.

Next.

I recently stayed at the Hard Rock hotel in Chicago, there was nothing about the hotel that said gambling.

They mean betting on the possibility that a casino will be built somewhere nearby.

Hopefully. Friends stayed in an Air B'n'B in Castleberry Hills last month and they couldn't believe how desolate the area was considering its proximity to COP and Downtown.

That would be a good mixture of venues if MGM Grand comes to Atlanta

It is separated from those areas by the Gulch and 1/2 mile long viaducts.

Every city is like this. With hotels, people favor consistency and quality over experimentation and experience. With restaurants, it's generally the opposite. I shy away from unbranded hotels simply because they're often just debranded versions of chain hotels, after they lose their luster. Boutiques are different, but any city with thousands upon thousands of hotel rooms will have a massive presence of chain hotels providing the bulk of the inventory.
