At least they put bike lanes on Peachtree in Midtown and downtown, didn't they?
Peachtree has sharrows, but there plans to add protected bike lanes on Piedmont and Juniper. Still this creates an island of Relay Bike Share that is cut off from the rest of the network. The BCID plan relegates customers on 2 wheels to the back alleys of Buckhead Village and not the store fronts.

You are removing customers from the front door of businesses, 2-wheel customers matter too.

How come people aren't squawking about keeping 2-wheel customers away from the front doors on Peachtree in Midtown and downtown?

Peachtree Rd has sharrows, and MUTCD R-411 signs.

I wouldn't call Maple and Pharr Road back alleys. They are bustling with commerce and dense new residential buildings.

For example you can ride right up to the front door of the Elbow Room. https://goo.gl/Z7N5iN

Cyclists can use the regular lanes on any part of Peachtree now, can't they?

It's my understanding this debate was about painting separate lanes for them, like we have up around Lenox and on Ponce.

This is incorrect, one of the center thru lanes is being converted into a center turn lane.

I see some advantages to the revised plan.

For one thing, the existing bike lanes on Peachtree presently stop at Maple. From there, they'll be adding new bike lanes on Maple to connect with the existing lanes on Pharr.

Maple also has the advantage of traffic signals at both East Paces Ferry and Pharr, which is a huge safety factor for cyclists.

So cyclists will have new lanes on Maple, in addition to the existing bike lanes on Peachtree. Plus they can still ride anywhere else they want in the Village, as many streets are pretty peaceful. The pedestrian experience will be much enhanced as well.

Maple and Pharr are hardly "back alleys" -- they are bustling commercial streets with a tons of retail, office and major multifamily developments
