I took city streets to 675 today and saw something I haven't seen in a while and I always wondered what they were...

They are around south Atlanta. One is by where 675 hits Moreland, one is by the Starlight Drive-In, one is further along 675.

These are large hills with no trees and constant slopes that definitely look manmade. One had a big pipe running down the side of it. But i can't see the top of them.

What are these things? Reservoirs? Mines? Quarries?

Yes they are landfills. Fun fact- The one at Moreland and 285 have solar panels installed on them for some kind of solar energy experiment.

In essence, what you saw are man-made landfills that were placed on a natural, historically significant ridge/series of hills.


The area should've been protected a long time ago.
