I mean, yeah. The Eastside, Westside, and Northside trails are, together, ~6.3 miles, or 29% of the 22-mile loop.

Add in the in-process planning for the Northeast and Southside trails, and you get ~14 miles, or 64% of the overall trail in some form of active planning or having been built. Of course, that's not to say the rest of the Northwest trail isn't being actively worked on either, just that it's a fair bit further back.

Oh, and then we have to think about all the planning around the streetcar and light rail system itself. There's a lot of effort going on there too, between MARTA, the city, the BeltLine folks, and the feds.

But they have only built a small part. And the northern 1/4 will probably never get built since the railroads still use the ROW.

As I've said elsewhere, the northern 1/4 will probably look like the Clifton Corridor. Not impossible.

We also cannot forget connector trails that have been built as well; Southwest Connector Trail in Westview and Westwood Terr and West End Trail (runs parallel to Westside Trail).
Too many times people get TOO focused on the loop.

Right, but the connector trails aren't really built with transit in mind, let alone light rail, which was the topic.

MARTA survey results show that Atlantans want rail on the BeltLine

Quote:
The results from MARTA’s in-person and online surveys clearly show that Atlantans want BeltLine rail to be a spending priority.
Quote:
133 [in-person] respondents defined how they want the referendum tax money to be used. The “MARTA Priorities” box in the document shows BeltLine transit to be a high priority. In another section of the report, the item “Expansion of Atlanta Streetcar/Light Rail, incl. the Atlanta BeltLine Loop” was market as being Very Important by 70% of respondents.
Quote:
4,200 people participated in the online survey. Like the in-person survey, these results also show that BeltLine rail is a high priority. And please note that the specific phrase “light rail” was used in the survey, not “anything you might call transit, like maybe a bus or something.” The Most Favored section of the reports tells the story. Atlantans want their tax money spent on trains for the BeltLine
The people continue to speak, and align with the professionals. How crazy.

The Beltline has a survey out. Does everyone have to do a survey?

What? MARTA was doing public outreach to prioritize the project list for More MARTA tax funding. BeltLine wasn't a leader of that effort.

Then again, when you have people, and even high-level officials, who didn't seem to get the message the first time around, it pays to remind everyone of where support lies. That just so happens to have come from an already happening effort from MARTA to prioritize funding for projects.

MARTA will keep the $1 fare to ride the Atlanta Streetcar when it takes over the troubled downtown transit line July 1.

MARTA Police Chief Wanda Dunham told the agency’s Board of Director’s Friday the fare is needed to allow officers to enforce a “no loitering” rule and to ensure patrons feel safe aboard the streetcar. Some customers have complained they feel unsafe because of homeless people often ride the transit line.

Proof of payment, threat of ticket or jail time if unpaid fare. Many LRT systems do this.
