Default Online Article: Atlanta Country's 2nd Worst Traffic Area...

We actually discuss this frequently in here, but here are a couple of links to the newest articles that discuss Atlanta being right there near the top of the heap for traffic problems. These actually seem to pinpoint the longest commutes from a particular point A to point B in each city area, though:

Link 1 is for the main AOL article: HERE

Link 2 is for the Forbes version which AOL basically just duplicated: HERE.

I find it interesting that a couple of years ago when this was done, the immediate L.A. area was # 1 and Atlanta was # 2. It seems from these updated figures that Atlanta is now still # 2, but L.A. proper is now # 3, making us actually able to claim the evil title of having "worse traffic than L.A.".

I haven't been to all the metro's listed, but I can definitely believe that Atlanta is at least the rightful #2 holder of this dubious distinction. You don't understand how horrible the traffic is here until you've been here for a while. People first visit and say hey.... it's bad, but I'll get used to it. Or they fool themselves into thinking they will find an alternate rounte.. sure.. good luck.

If you work in the city live in the city. If you work in the suburbs live in the suburbs. Use MARTA too! If more people did this traffic wouldn't be so bad!

Got to agree, I really don't think is that bad at all unless you do a crazy commute in from the suburbs. DC where I lived before was much worse.

Atlanta's downtown was featured as the main photo for the article on the AOL page :-)

What's interesting is how far back Boston is on the list... For all the bad rap the "Big Dig" has gotten, I've noticed how much faster it lets me get around Boston's downtown traffic. Regardless of cost, I'm a big fan for the idea of the 400 extension tunnel to the south perimeter.

Atlanta suffers from the following problem as well:

Part of the problem is that, unlike New York City, where companies such as Citigroup (nyse: C - news - people ) are headquartered, Los Angeles doesn't have a single activity center.
