I just reported a pothole to City of Atlanta, Georgia: Interior
So how long will it be before someone comes to fix it?

Last time I reported one it was filled in within 3 days. Might be longer due to Christmas.

3 to 6 months in my experience. You have to stay after them.

if you used the ATL 311 site, it literally gives you an expected response time

A huge, nasty one has been open at Crescent and 14th for a month now. I wouldn't hold my breath.

I recall reporting them with some regularity when I lived in town. Seems like it would take a few months. The one at North and Peachtree that leaded water all the time - took the fixers about a year to actually fix it.

Haven't heard anything. So I'm thinking about taking matters into my own hands. Around how much would it cost to do it myself or to hire a private contractor? The two holes are about 12 to 18 inches across and about 4 inches deep.

Private citizens should not make repairs to public infrastructure. If the repair fails, then the city gets sued. The way it works is the city sends out a qualified employee to judge if it can be patched or requires something more.
Most of the atl311.com potholes I have reported have been fixed within 4 weeks, but remember the holidays as well.

In my experience they will usually come out after a month or so and put down some steel plates. But it often takes months for them to actually fix the pothole.
