I second La Casita in East Atlanta. It has a nice outdoor patio (with a fireplace!) and the food is good and cheap. Pancho's on Buford Highway is also good. They have a great patio with a huge tree in the middle that overlooks I-85.

Jalisco at P'tree Battle is great for your standard fare. Nuevo Laredo Cantina is a lot more authentic.

Now, this isnt Midtown or Buckhead but Los Bravos around Dekalb Industrial (Decatur) is good comfort Mexican.

And if you want $4 Stubbies and decent BBQ and FRIED PICKLES then go to Fox Bros on Dekalb Ave, close to Moreland Ave....just thought I'd throw that in!

So was I! I was there around 8pm with my husband and son. Son was about to pass out at the table after a long day of playing with friends in that gorgeous weather we had.

We got the fried pickles, pulled pork with onion rings and mac and cheese. Everyone at the fried pickles. Hubby and I shared the pork. He ate the onion rings, though I had one or two. And son had the mac and cheese. It was the perfect amount of food - especially artery/heart challenging food - to go with the $4 Stubbies (that Red Stripe - the big bottles!).

I'm happy to finally see a BBQ place that serves beef - had the sliced brisket last time and it was nice and moist....

I could never be a vegetarian...as much as I love vegetables I just couldn't stop eating BBQ....

Rosa Mexicano in Atlantic Station is quite good. Frank Bruni (food writer for the NY Times) wrote a great article entitled Dining with Gavin and Bella: Rosa Mexicano - Dinerís Journal - Dining & Wine - New York Times Blog about a New York Rosa Mexicano, if you're interested in reading more about the restaurant.
