Then there's the agreement that the Atlanta Braves owners struck for the stadium in Cobb County opening next year (though good luck getting across the highway to see games there). The Braves' new lease contains a line that the team is only responsible for paying for upgrades that "exceed industry standards and that are not reasonably necessary to maintain the Stadium as a competitive MLB facility." In sports terms, "competitive" is an even bigger weasel word than "state of the art"—it can and has been interpreted to mean anything up to and including "the guy down the road has a shinier one." If you're looking to lay bets on the first new stadium demand of the 2030s, I'd be putting my money on the Braves (and the Vikings), because they've already set down the required legal framework.

Looks like SunTrust park is generating a lot of activity.

Apparently another office building is in the works.

Apparently. Not much discussion can be had, though, if the basis for that discussion is behind a paywall.

Grand slam, inside the park, walk off, Chinese (no offense!), that's about it...

The spot I've been wondering about is this undeveloped land, between Crescent Pkwy and Windy Ridge, south of those new apartments:

https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8932.../data=!3m1!1e3

I wonder if that will be more residential, or office towers or what. Directly across the street from the stadium. And it would be cool to see that roundabout there have another spoke on it, to make another road connection with Windy Ridge.

I say, if this thing is going to be a walkable island, then at least make it as large of an island as possible, with as much stuff that can walk to/from the Battery. (And the Galleria, via the new bridge.)

That land currently being cleared and leveled is phase 2 of The Reserve at the Ballpark.

If you mean the trees between the apartments and the stadium, there are no plans to put anything there. It is a huge gulley/ravine.

Back in the real estate boom of 2000-2006, there was a plan for 2 high-rise office/residential towers in that space.

That, of course, never happened and the gulley/ravine is still there. DOT just filled in ~ 40-50' of it with dirt ... on the Circle 75 side to create the landing pad for the elevated pedestrian bridge that will cross Circle 75 and then turn left and cross Windy Ridge.

Something will eventually go there, but like the Suntrust Park land and its gas pipelines ... that land has never been developed because it'll take a TON of engineering, site work, and $$$ to make it useable.

This makes sense and it fills up the hole left by Genuine Parts.

First it was the longtime HQ for Genuine Parts. Then it was to be a parking lot for the Atlanta Braves. Now, a secluded Cobb County office building will be the home of one of the major general contractors in The Battery and SunTrust Park.
