Houston only has 23 miles of light rail and Dallas has nothing except a streetcar that's even weenier than ours...so of course we are beating cities like that.
How much older and denser are those cities? Where those systems not built by private companies?

That must be just heavy rail no? Cause SEPTA in Philly has tons more coverage than MARTA but it utilizes regional rail very well.

With only 2 lines (generally speaking) and over 450k riders per day MARTA is doing great with what they have

Dallas has a light rail system with 4 lines in addition to the streetcar, so that is more than nothing.

Some of the mayors don't want anything to go to MARTA. Others only want to give it 25%. There has to be somebody in the room playing hardball, demanding 50%, in order for us to get anything close to an acceptable result. I'm glad Mayor Reed is doing the job.

Holy cow, what a nice looking rail system Dallas has!!!! Wish we could get something like that, look how far outside their beltway it goes. And just a cursory look of their expansion looks like they built it out relatively quickly.

I wish we could get it together.

That is LRT which in no way can compare to the speed of efficiency of MARTA's existing HRT. They have the largest LRt system in the US, yet it got 29.471M riders, ranking 6th overall in LRT. While MARTA's HRT ranked 8th overall in HRY ridership and 9th overall in transit agencies.
