No.

This is property owners in unincorporated south Fulton County exercising their right to determine their own destiny using the annexation laws of this state.

Just like residents can choose to create a new city, property owners can choose to annex out before the vote.

They didn't contact Atlanta Mayor Reed contacted them and basically said that they should annex into Atlanta. Is that not an agenda? Let the businesses decide for themselves instead of using propaganda to make them feel like they have to be annexed.

It's not like he forced them to join the city of Atlanta he gave them an option you can be a part of this new city or you can get annexed into the City of Atlanta if they want to be part of the city of Atlanta then that's their choice

This is what the article says. Why is he going after these businesses that he doesn't even need? I just have a feeling that he has personal strife with the City of South Fulton sponsors.

Exactly this. If the potential city of South Fulton were an attractive option, these owners would be saying no even if the mayor came down in a clown suit and a herd of dancing elephants. He is a smart mayor to let business owners know of their options. He isn't coercing anyone, but.... he knows that most business owners would opt for the known over the unknown.... and the potentially disastrous unknown.

Pretty reasonable for a mayor to encourage adjacent areas to want to be in his city, particularly if they are revenue positive. I mean, is he supposed to not have a preference? That wouldn't make sense.

Y'all don't see the consequences of this. Despite whether South Fulton passes or not, this is taking even more money from the residential neighborhoods of unincorporated South Fulton and we'll have to pay even higher taxes now.

That problem could be solved with all of the remaining unincorporated areas of South Fulton being annexed by the existing cities.

One way or the other, you and everyone else in South Fulton will likely be incorporated into something, probably within 5 years.
