This isn't to the first major US city that I have lived in and this is not the first time I've seen something like what happened here either. It never ends well for those pushing these type of lawsuits because all the black people in the region suffer because of their myopia and flawed precedents...
Well, it sounds like he went by the book.

Fulton County judge tosses Atlanta annexation plans - Story | WAGA
I was flabbergasted when I read that on the ABC site. Truly stunning turn of events. Atlanta, despite being in the sunbelt, is treated like a northern city on this issue. Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh et al. would not be able to annex if their very existence depended upon it. Their borders are thoroughly landlocked pretty much forever. The similarities with these cities in contrast with other sunbelt cities is stunning for Atlanta.

How can you go by the book when the ruling possibly rules in favor of an illogical timeframe?

This is what happens when you have a state that has a long history of overt bias of a locale because it is majority black.

Sounds like Fulton County is pleased with the outcome:

Quote:
Fulton County commissioners have been outspoken about the problems they have with the annexation process. State law does not provide a mechanism for the county to check that signatures are valid, and there are only limited reasons why a county can object to the annexation of its unincorporated areas.

In a statement, Fulton County Chairman John Eaves said he appreciated the court’s scrutiny “to ensure the process of annexation was followed as spelled out in the law.”

“Our constituents have expressed their concerns about annexation, and we believe the court rendered a fair decision,” he said.

However, perhaps now they will be step by step retrofitted to take after urban communities with focal town focuses and a neighborhood personality and feeling of spot.

The greater part of metro Atlanta's rural areas have insane fringes. Take a gander at Smyrna, Marietta, and Kennesaw. Alpharetta as well. That won't prevent it from being affirmed.
The Johns Creek and Milton areas should've been annexed by Alpharetta and Roswell, and Peachtree Corners either part of Norcross or Duluth.

If the people of South Fulton vote yes, it surely isn't because of some anger for Atlanta. It's because the government of Fulton County isn't doing enough for our area. South Fulton is literally the most unkept area in the metro. DeKalb even does a better maintenance job on their unincorporated areas. Fulton has no business running as a municipality, let's let an actual city do that job, and let's finally get our share of SPLOST money.

You obviously have not spent extensive time in southern Dekalb County because it is worse off than Southwestern Fulton County will ever be.

That's the problem the majority of the people do not favor this because it would have pass 10 years ago if so. This is the work of a select few individuals pushing a redo hoping this boondoggle will go through without any real details so it will guarantee themselves jobs. Nothing more.

Those were all done via the 100% method because he owns all of those commercial properties through his LLCs. He has the right to control the jurisdiction of his properties are a part of in the end. Technically, this ruling can be considered a form of a taking, which can be considered unconstitutional and grounds for the property owner to file counter civil suit(s) against the plaintiffs. Yep, this ruling will wind up in appellant court because of this alone...

Trust me, I know South DeKalb than most on this forum and I can safely say that their government treats them better (which isn't saying much as both areas are unkept).
