Hello all, i am a 24 yr old college grad moving to the north Atlanta area for my job that will be the development on the corner of Old Milton and 400 on exit 10. I will be here for at least a year or so, so i am looking for a safe, decent/ upscale nice place to be in the surrounding Alpharetta area. I am single and would preferrably like to be in the area where most of the younger/single crowd is, and close to shops and restaraunts and such. I am looking for a generally newer construction 1 or 2 bedroom apartment/condo/townhouse for around 800-1200 a month that is near all the things to do and still not have to drive too far to go to work (preferably nothing longer than 30 mins.) And if the complex has a gym/pool/gated that would be nice also. Ive read that Alpharetta is boring for my age, but from what i see its a really nice area. Any suggestions on a particular area to live and possibly an apartment reccomendation based on these parameters? Thanks in advance

I currently live and work off Exit 9 in Alpharetta. Alpharetta is a very nice upscale family suburb. However, it is definitely not a place for young, single people. And assuming you like to go out on weekends, Alpharetta is pretty far from the city nightlife (15+ miles).

You could live in the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs areas and still be within 20 min of work. These areas have a ton of young professionals. While there is little nightlife there, you are closer to the city. My wife and I are moving to this area next month.

Good luck with your move. Your budget will get you a very nice apt in any of those areas.

I just posted these as my recommendations in another thread. We just did an apartment search in the northern Atlanta area and we were very impressed with 3 management companies (well 3 outside of the one we chose). We need a 3 bedroom family type area so what we chose won't help BUT my husband did see three very impressive places, 2 of them seemed very upscale with awesome amenities.
Here are the links to the management company websites:
www.waltoncommunities.com
Gables ::: Taking Care of the Way People Live, luxury apartments, rentals, accommodation, rental housing, lease
Apartments for Rent - Post Apartment Homes - Furnished Luxury Apartments - Condominiums

We used a rental relocation realty company to help us find a place. There was no charge because they are paid by the communities you visit/lease from.
