Here Are The States With The Most Billionaires | Forbes

Interesting list, GA comes in solidly at 9 ahead of some states that I would assume are further up. Certainly could use more though, interesting how it says a lot about your state what your billionaires are for, but also financially where your state racks up. Interesting to see a state like Illinois with only 17.

Not surprising are Cali, Florida and NY.

What surprised me a bit were some of the smaller rural states that seem to have attracted some billionaires into their ranks.

I was also surprised by suburban NYC states, mainly New Jersey and Connecticut. They were lower than I anticipated.

Interesting. I'm curious how they calculated this list. Because they list NC as having only 3 billionaires, which seems awfully low, especially considering they're roughly the same size as GA.

According to Wikipedia (which gets their figures from Forbes' 2014 list), GA has 11 billionaires. And that same list shows NC as having 25 billionaires!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...f_billionaires

That's a crazy discrepancy between 3 and 25 for NC. Could someone explain what accounts for these very different figures? I can't believe that state lost almost 90% of their billionaire population within a year.

Is Forbes on crack?

I find "Georgia's" flag on that wiki list a bit humerous

If this list included temporarily embarrassed billionaires, Georgia would be in the top three.

High state taxes generally discourage the wealthy from those states. NY and Cali generally have high taxes as well but there are other draws to living there. New Jersey has extremely high tax rates on the wealthy, and nothing to really draw them there. Double whammy.

Do you have a list for how much DEBT people in a state have? How much does Georgia owe in mortgages, student loans, credit card and auto loans. I would love to see the ding a ling measuring list for those numbers.

I actually did see those numbers somewhere and GA was one of the highest credit card and various other forms of debt in the country, at least that was the number I think when I read something that went back post recession 2008, one of the big reasons why ATL/GA was hit so hard was the conclusion of the article.

I am curious with the billionaire numbers, if some of them technically reside elsewhere now for tax purposes and that is why numbers may be different.
