BTW, neither stadium are within the city limits of the respective namesakes.
The moral of the story is it doesn't really matter where the stadium is in Miami because people will go to Miami regardless but this isnt about Miami so im done talking about Miami

These same naysayers I'm sure would argue that the Olympics were a complete and total waste of money and that the metro got no lasting benefit.

Apparently a lot of the numbers usually don't put into account the hotel numbers that would normally be going on in town without the Super Bowl, in a city like Atlanta, that may not have as strong of a visitor tally in the month of February, so perhaps it could help fill hotels that may not be full normally.

The big issue with the Super Bowl though is all the rules and financial wizardry the NFL invokes on the city, to keep money for themselves and make the cities fit the bill, i.e. the city makes nothing from the actual tickets, cabs can't charge more for peak time, etc. These are all stipulations to limit the financial and tax gain the city should be getting.

SF and Santa Clara apparently had a terrible contract with the NFL that stuck them with some bills, somewhere in the range of 2.1 million or something, so ATL's government needs to be very clear about the bills they are dealing with, so they actually are in the black and it can be a benefit, possibly in the range of 30 million boost or more, instead of the 100's of millions constantly brought up.

I'm not against a Super Bowl, I get it and it seems like Reed is leery of handing over the farm to the NFL from what I've read previously, so hopefully he or whoever takes over does the right thing for the city.
