I've been monitoring commute times from Alpharetta to Midtown for the past few weeks. It seems if I leave around 6:30 am it will take me 45-55 minutes in the morning. Returning around 5:00 looks to take around 1:15. I recognize this is while shool is out, however.

Is anyone making the commute from Alpharetta to Midtown? What is the "normal" time you expect it to take (understanding there are always outlier bad days). Is it much worse than 1:15 in the afternoons?

I also realize WHERE in Alpharetta makes a difference ... I've been using Cambridge High School as my barometer.

Any help is appreciated.

Yes people make that commute. I'd put the commute at anywhere between 40-90 minutes. Afternoon will be worse than the morning.

There's not much help to be given for this commute. You can take GA400 or MARTA. Roswell Road is not a practical alternative, IMO.

If you're interested in that kind of thing, MARTA runs direct buses from the Windward Park-N-Ride ( only miles from Cambridge HS) to North Springs Station. Between 5:25 AM and 9:40 AM, the #143 takes you straight to the station in 20-30Min depending on how early you catch the bus.

Red Line from North Springs to Midtown only takes 20 minutes. Assuming a maximum wait time to transfer between bus and train, your total commute would be 50 min to 1 hr.

So, you don't save a ton of time, but you're only driving for that last few miles to/from the Park-N-Ride.

Traffic is lighter (in some cases much lighter) now that school is out. Last week was ridiculously easy.
