Hey everyone,

Lately, I've fallen out of love with this area. It's being built up way too fast and all of the charm is being sucked out of it. I might as well be living in Buckhead. With the Braves stadium coming, it will get even worse. I remember moving here in 2005 and back in 2009 (been here ever since). Vinings used to have a charming smaller town feel but yet still hip restaurants and shops. Now it's very commercial and super congested.

Are there any similar areas in Atlanta to the old school Vinings? The caveat is I would like it to be ideally located like Vinings. I'm 15-20 minutes from Buckhead and Midtown, a few more minutes to Downtown. That's a plus I probably don't want to give up.

Let's talk. Btw, I'm 39 years old if that helps. Not old, but not 22 either.

Downtown Marietta. We used to live in Vinings and Smyrna and thought we'd miss it when we moved to Marietta, but that's really not the case at all. The Square is bigger than Vinings, with much more in the way of shops, restaurants, festivals and entertainment, but it's actually a bit more quaint and historic than Vinings. The same CSX line as passes through Vinings runs just to the west of the Square, and that gives it a fun vibe. Tonight would be a great night to sample what it has to offer... The monthly Friday night art walk is going on, and artists are set up on sidewalks outside restaurants and shops, the galleries are open and providing wine and cheese... Great atmosphere. There are probably a few thousand people up here right now, including us.

I work near the airport and rarely is my commute more than 40 minutes. Midtown is about 25 most mornings. Quite easy, really.

Housing options abound near the Square, with condos starting in the 200s, bungalows that might need some renovation in the same range, new construction and larger renovated houses in the 300s-500s, all the way up to historic mansions at a million or more...

Good luck in your search!

Downtown Marietta is a good suggestion.

Historic Downtown East Point, Historic Downtown College Park, and Hapeville (all) are possible options as well.

Additionally--you may want to look further up in the immediate neighborhoods around the Smyrna Village Green.

My final suggestion would be the Northwest Atlanta neighborhoods of Whittier Mill Village, Bolton, and Riverside.

Yeah, Riverside and Whittier Mill are inside the city of Atlanta, but have more quiet country charm than Vinings.
