Well, what about these?

VEGAS:

The city in an ugly arid desert
A city on an ugly arid desert
The ugly city in an arid desert

DALLAS:

City on a hot flat plain
Hot city on a flat plain
A plain flat hot city

DETROIT:

Big empty city of ruins
The city of big empty ruins
A big city empty and ruined

CHICAGO:

A city worth dying for
The city worth dying for
Shoot now, ask questions later

I'm sure there are others!

Sure is...that whole little area of Hapeville-East Point-Forest Park-College Park is highly underrated and will be the place to buy again in the future, when people can't afford the more popular areas to the north. It's already happened somewhat over the past couple of decades.

So true! I've thought this since the 90s. I think that Forest Park should be grouped with the others more...and call them the Quad Cities instead.

THE City in a Forest...I think that's the way I usually see it written. A city would imply that there are many others like it - and there aren't - but there are many forests like it I guess.
