In what has become an extremely rare move in Buckhead apartment project developments, Wood Partners LLC has presented a plan to reduce the size of a planned high-rise residential tower at 1000 Park Avenue, across from Phipps Plaza, from 40 stories to 27.The reduction in the number of floors, from what was originally planned by the previous owner of the property John Kusmiersky of The Brickstone Cos., also results in the reduction of the number of apartment units and the number of parking spaces, which means less cars.
The nearly 2-acre site is next to 750 Park Avenue, which Kusmiersky previously developed and is one of Buckhead’s tallest buildings. Wood Partners now has the 1000 Park Avenue site under contract.

Sounds good to me. Buckhead doesn't need another 40 story condo tower.

Pfffftttt....traffic around Phipps really isn't as bad as people say. Plus, once they put a bike lane on Peachtree, it will be a non-issue since people can simply ride bikes instead of driving.

And since this development is walkable to MARTA, just build, build, build. That way, anyone stuck in traffic can just look in their rear view mirror knowing it's their own damn fault.

Don't you have any faith in the system, arjay? Once we take away enough lanes of traffic, there will be no problem. It's induced demand, brother!

I wonder what they're going to do about the "Stratford" or whatever project it's called replacing that Buckhead Church...it's over 600 feet.

That area is flat getting built up.

They should enlarge the Buc or build the people mover that was originally planned. Whatever happened to that?

Unless the BUC shuttles have dedicated lanes and signal priority, they are useless and get caught in the same congestion.
