The BeltLine is more than just a recreation trail, which is what separates it from the High Line and other Rails-to-Trails. It is a transportation corridor.

Don't worry. That's exactly what will happen, and has been happening.

Gas is a very small piece of car ownership. If you pay $80k in cash for Tesla it doesn't mean your true costs are only the $5 worth of electricity you use.

Annual Cost to Own and Operate a Vehicle Falls to $8,698, Finds AAA | AAA NewsRoom

(TLDR: Owning a car is costing you at least $500/m and probably closer to $1k a month, even if you are not getting a nice easy to read bill in the mail each month with that amount)

Now, are there places where owning a car will be your cheapest transportation option? Yes, and that is exactly why you should look at transportation costs and housing costs together when considering a move or new job.

And you could live a cheaper life without owning a car if you choose to.

Well, for now it is mainly a recreational trail, isn't it?

Personally I don't see anything wrong with that. It may someday become a big transit corridor but every time I've been out there 99% of the folks are out jogging or cycling, taking a stroll or walking the dog.

Depends on the time and day you are out there, but it is a huge bike commuter route. Weekends it is nearly impossible to ride a bike, unless non-peak hours. Use the link and only select Commuter. Cycle Atlanta: Interactive map

As far as Uber, it all depends on where you live and where you're going.

Uber between Vinings and Midtown is usually about $14 each way, or $28 round trip. So that's a lot more expensive than either a transit trip, or trying to find paid parking lot somewhere. (But much easier and more convenient than either.)

(But it's also a lot LESS expensive than a traditional taxi.)

As I said in my first post NO I COULD NOT! Just going to and from work would cost more than either Uber or MARTA. In those numbers, I still haven't gone to the store, gone out with friends, gone to church, or paid shipping for all the things that I would have to have delivered since I couldn't just pick them up myself! In all that, the only cost that goes up proportionally is the gas; insurance and car payment stay the same, maintenance doesn't appreciably increase.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED that a simple question on parking near the Beltline has turned into a five-page bitchfest.
