I did consulting from home, but only on a part time basis when I lived in Atlanta.

I also did customer service from home while I was pregnant with my youngest child and after she was born. I worked 5 hours per evening after my spouse was home to watch the kids. That job was more of a job in that I worked for a company and got an hourly wage paycheck and a W2 like any other job. I have worked for a couple customer service providers from home. They are just like regular jobs but you don't have a commute. If your kids/family/dogs are ever heard though on the line, you can get fired.
