Not on its own, at least. But boosters in Cincinnati, Kansas City, and elsewhere are banking that their new lines can keep resurgent downtowns booming.

Streetcars Debut in Cincinnati and Kansas City - CityLab

I wonder why no mention or reference to the streetcar in Atlanta

Bit of a sensationalist headline, but it points out it is part of a larger positive feedback loop.

"The Streetcar Can't Save Your City" any more than a new road or development "Can Save Your City" on its own.

Still I would argue that the Beltline, which has the streetcar as a key piece, is "saving" Atlanta in many ways.

Sad pathetic little project.

What a waste of money.

A new baseball stadium can't save your county.

A rather short-sighted attitude. I'm glad the city didn't adopt it. I was skeptical at first; now I think the 'project' has enormous potential as a transportation overlay for the HRT line.

Exactly. Some people can't see the forest for the trees.

You never disappoint CQHOLT...actually I am a fan of the streetcar and future expansion. The Beltline and future expansion of the streetcar (and hopefully MARTA rail) has/is actually saving the CoA. I posted the article because I feel slighted that the ATL wasn't even referenced.

Appreciate your typical Cobbsessive input

Streetcars can actually a lot for a city. Just look at what it's done for the cities that have one. Save, no, but it contributes to a lot of development.

Well Atlanta's tourist streetcar is actually part of a larger plan.
