Exactly. From the proposed development it looks like by adding residential and commercial functions to surround the stadium, it appears that bolstering the football program is being used as a catalyst to further enhance the "campus life" experience that Georgia State has been moving forward with going on two decades now. And I'm thinking GSU doesn't aspire to be a "Power Five" top program; the football program is not an expensive "trophy wife" as typical with SEC schools. They seem to be following the mold of other "urban" programs in the Southeast like UCF, USF, Charlotte, Memphis, Houston, FIU, etc.

You can look at GSU's roster and tell that their recruiting expenditures are probably minimal. Rather than the traditional southern model of college football I wonder if there is any impetus for GSU and these schools from Charlotte, Memphis, Norfolk, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Birmingham etc. to form a "Metro South" conference? The draw for football recruits could be the opportunity to play in bustling Sun Belt cities on the rise with a bowl game-like atmosphere every week at home and on the road coupled with increased job opportunities upon graduating. Let's face it, nobody's sticking around Tuscaloosa after they get their degree.

Really no big deal and shouldn't have been scheduled so close to the recent holidays with so many involved parties taking off for the holidays.

The Turner Field sign has now shed its Braves graphics for a great looking GSU logo. Nice to see on the way home today, makes me excited for the future.

I'm hoping the retail development starts soon. The neighborhood really deserves it after the disaster of community planning that is Turner Field.

So I'm confused about something. I thought it was great that the field would be gone and turned into housing and retail to help gentrify that neighborhood...But GSU is keeping it a field. What are they doing differently than the braves?
