Well, it seems as though I'm either going to stay in the same area where I currently live for a place that is within budget but with the same horrific schools and crime issues. I'll have more disposable income to put my kids in activities and such and hopefully take one or two short weekend vacations.

Or I'll slightly increase my budget and live in a run down place in a more desireable area. Increasing budget means dipping into my children's stipends (foster care and adoption from foster care provides stipends or subsidies) instead of using it for rare large purchases they need (usually electronics, bicycles, sporting equipment) or banking it for their future. It makes me feel sick to do that, but I have to think that having them live in a better school district is also part of banking for their future.

It's really hard to choose sometimes.
