Is Fayette County Single Mom Friendly?
I'm a newly single Mom with two kids, ages 12 and 1. We're originally from West L.A. Due to my son being born early, medical bills, hubby running away to try to reconnect w/ex, and the resulting financial turmoil, I am losing my wonderful McDonough home.
My 7th grader is academically gifted, sweet, and has been somewhat sheltered (she's 12 and acts only 12, not older). I've been a stay-at-home/work-at-home Mom for 2 years, but my background is in publishing. We're quiet and stay to ourselves.
I've looked into an affordable apartment called Harmony Village, but a few things I've seen are scary - but the information is years old.
Both my bank account and my credit have been decimated in this past year, and I now worry about our options. I refuse to put her in an inferior school district though.
Is PTC, and Fayette in general, "friendly" towards single parent families? How are race relations there? Am I insane for considering Harmony Village? Are there options I'm not thinking of?
I've learned a ton from this board and welcome any input from you all.
Thanks!!
