I hope all the glass doesn't overwhelm the currently nice fountain, plaza, and seating areas near Peachtree and 15th.

When complete, the complex will include a new six-story building facing the corner of Peachtree and 15th streets, where demolition work has now begun. The new building will house retail and restaurants on the ground floor, as well as a FitLab Fitness Club and offices above. It won’t be ready until November 2019.

In the meantime, expect to see new retail spaces along Peachtree Street open on July 4 of next year—the 50th anniversary of the complex’s original unveiling.

The second phase, slated for delivery in March 2019, will bring new retail to the base of Building 400, located toward 15th Street.

Why can't it stay at Colony Square?

Looking at the renderings it looks like they are going build a structure right on the corner of Peachtree and 15th, which right now is a wide open patio area. The sign is just off the sidewalk. I think a good place for it is near the Midtown Station on 10th.

Yeah, that would work too.

Interior demolition on the Colony Square food court is underway as developer North American Properties (NAP) seeks to "reimagine" the landmark Midtown development.

A permit application was submitted to the City of Atlanta late-December for "vertical demolition" of the property's "existing mall;" a $6,200,000 expense.

The "actual building" that houses the food court will begin demolition this spring, a Colony Square spokesperson Wednesday told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in an email.

Moe’s, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Establishment, and 5Church make up the current roster of open and operational dining options at Colony Square.

As part of the demolition, Colony Square is donating the Atrium’s 500 chairs and 150 tables to City of Refuge, a non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of people in crisis in the 30314 zip code.
